Kelleher’s Cottage,
Hamilton
8 Linnet Street
Hamilton
Kelleher’s Cottage is an historic house, six rooms single storey, about 14 metres by 10 metres, built of sandstone in 1835, on a large level block in a back street of historic rural Hamilton, with an outlook over farm land to hills and distant mountains. Substantial renovation has recently been completed and a new garden has been com-menced. The cottage is now sunny, warm, clean and attractively set up as a self contained holiday home, fully furnished and equipped for comfortable visitor accommodation for days at a time. Plenty of off street private parking leads to a large sunny courtyard with an outdoor table and chairs then the back door directly into the kitchen. The kitchen and bathroom have been attractively modernized. Facing the view to the north, they are sunny and warm. An original flagstone floor in the kitchen is a special feature. The kitchen is a good size and fully equipped for preparing meals. It is fitted with a gas stove, microwave oven, a small fridge, washing machine, jug, toaster, pots, pans, crockery and more. The bathroom has a big skylight, a deep bath with shower over, a big sink, modern toilet and a big pile of towels. Two bedrooms both have queen sized beds. All rooms have electric heating, one bedroom also has a wood heater and the other has an external door to the courtyard. The lounge room has a television and another wood heater. There is a separate dining room which has a writing desk and telephone. Our service offers the whole cottage fully equipped as a home away from home, already well provisioned for ‘make your own’ breakfast; and with basics for preparing other meals, cleaning up and laundry - in the freezer, fridge, cupboards and drawers. We recommend that guests have their evening meal at home. “Why rent a gorgeous historic cottage for the night and then go out for tea?” The cottage is well set up to cook for yourselves or easier are ready prepared meals from our ‘freezer restaurant’ and wine from our cellar at Jackson’s Emporium. We suggest that Kelleher’s Cottage makes an ideal base for a few days seeing Central and most of Southern Tasmania; and an ideal return to civilization after treking in the wild lands or a period in the city.
