Old Colony Inn (Accommodation),
New Norfolk
21 Montagu Street
New Norfolk
Old Colony Inn was originally built as a hop shed in 1815. The building was later extended with a mud and stone lower floor, and convict brick upper floor to become a private dwelling. Old Colony Inn is set in delightful old-world gardens in the picturesque Derwent Valley and is crammed with priceless antiques and artefacts including the world famous Victorian Doll’s House. Over the years, the building has served as a school, gymnasium and barracks until 1940 when William Rees, an antique dealer and artist, bought the property and developed it into The Old Colony Inn of today. Rees travelled widely, and furnished the house with antiques from all over Europe, most of which remain. Relax in the cottage garden or browse through the craft and souvenir shop. Delicious home-made food served all day, with evening meals served on the weekends. Your accommodation - The Honeymoon Cottage was built in the 1900s and has been used as such since the 1950s.
