Olive’s Cottage opened for business mid-2004 after extensive renovations, and landscaping of the one acre property. The result is a comfortable and cosy holiday house with a quaint cottage feel but with all the mod cons and facilities for the discerning and appreciative traveller, in a setting of sweeping lawns leading to beautiful views over the Tamar River and to the vineyards and hills beyond.
Located at Windermere on the eastern side of the Tamar River, 20 km north of Launceston, it is an ideal rural base to explore the northern region of Tasmania. Visit the Tamar wineries, swim at Bass Strait beaches, or marvel at some famous gorges. Stop at roadside stalls for raspberries, apples and cherries. Wander round the magnificent Launceston town centre.
For the food and wine lover, Olive’s Cottage has a fully equipped kitchen, with views to die for. There is an extensive library of cookbooks and a herb garden, as well as a barbecue pit with a magnificent Garry Lethborg table. Plan your own menu around that local produce and wine you just had to buy. Or take a short drive into Launceston for some of the nation’s finest eating.
The cottage has a combined lounge, kitchen and dining room, leading to extensive decking. There are two bedrooms, and an optional third in the form of a quiet sitting room with gorgeous views.
As sole occupants, you can relax and unwind unencumbered by others. Read a book. Sip a Tassie sparkling on the deck with some smoked Tamar salmon. Be mesmerised by the views and the passing parade of waterbirds, as the tide ebbs and flows over the wetlands. Enjoy your complimentary Devonshire Tea on arrival.
Olive’s does not take children under 12 years of age, or any pets.
Breakfast provisions can be provided upon request for an additional charge.
