Tucked away in total seclusion overlooking beautiful Lake Meadowbank, is the delightful holiday cottage over the back of Curringa, a 300 hectare property near the historic town of Hamilton. This luxurious modern log cabin set in light natural bushland is an ideal place for swimming, boating, trout fishing, water skiing, windsurfing or just lazing in the sun. Theres a dinghy in the boatshed, a boat ramp and a jetty. If its chilly, enjoy a log fire in the huge family room.
The fishing season is from the beginning of August to the end of April. Theres a choice of barbecues to cook your fish, one by the cottage and one at the boatshed, where there are also pleasant picnic facilities. Wander around the property to see the merino sheep and Hereford cattle, poppies and cabbages. Shearing is in June and October, lambs and calves are born in August.
Hearty country breakfast provisions are available if you wish, a good way to start the day before exploring the lakes, forests and mountains of Mt. Field National Park nearby, where the deciduous beech blazes golden in April. Or to fish in the superb Central Highlands lakes, also close by. The Ouse Country Club is 12 km away.
