Nestled under a hill in a secluded and private green valley under the protection of Mt Field this new replica ’turn of the century’ cottage is tucked away in lush garden surrounds against a running stream.
Relax and enjoy modern conveniences of the very well appointed self contained cottage. It is primarily set up for couples and can accommodate up to four guests. There are two steps into the cottage.
Wander over the cattle farm which includes a large cherry orchard, great if you are staying in the cherry season! Explore the bushland and breathtaking views of the southern midlands and across to Mt Field and also Mt Wellington and the south. Take a stroll beside the river and you may have a chance to see a platypus. Take a short drive and experience the pristine rainforest and alpine areas of Mt Field and surrounds.
Platypus Cottage is an ideal and friendly stopover between Strahan and Hobart, and a perfect base to experience Mt Field National Park, along with the beautiful Derwent Valley, Lake St Clair, Lake Pedder and the historic towns of the southern midlands.
