Post House Cottage,
Fentonbury
59 Gully Road
Fentonbury
Post House Cottage is in the heart of the Derwent Valley, in Fentonbury, just a 15 minute drive from Mount Field National Park and 60 minutes’ drive from Hobart. This early cottage has been completely renovated to provide the visitor with the comforts of home in a rural setting with peace and tranquility. Post House Cottage is on a small working farm, 100 metres from the main house off Gully Road, and is completely self-contained. The farm has sheep, alpacas, ducks and hens that provide fresh eggs and a garden that supplies fresh fruit and vegetables. Post House Cottage has two bedrooms, one with a double bed and the other with two single beds, and is suitable for four people. There is a large comfortable living area, a kitchen with dining area and a bathroom with shower. You can sit on the verandah to watch spectacular displays of birds, Kookaburras on the hunt, small Scarlet Robins and eagles soaring over Belcher’s Point, to name just a few. You may even spot echidnas and wombats. Post House Cottage has all modern conveniences, but a unique bonus is the opportunity to bake a bread in a cast iron range (reportedly brought to Tasmania in 1893). If you want to barbecue there is an outside gas barbecue. Post House Cottage is an ideal base from which to explore the beautiful Derwent Valley with its oast houses, hop farms, Salmon Farm at Plenty and easy access to Mt Field National Park. Or you can just relax and enjoy the life of a small farm. German, Dutch and French are all spoken at the property.
