Quamby Estate

Embrace the romance of days gone by without compromising today’s modern comforts. Quamby Estate near Launceston, Tasmania, is a picturesque country estate with superb 9-hole golf course and magnificent heritage-listed homestead that has been converted into a luxury lodge.

Quamby Homestead’s construction commenced in 1828, and its founders, the Dry family, played a pivotal role in Tasmania’s early colonial and economic development. Of substantial architectural interest, it was during the 1860’s that the Quamby homestead became known as Tasmania’s “Government House of the North”. In keeping with the original building principles, the homestead has been restored into a unique luxury lodge housing ten superbly appointed guest rooms.

Set in 64 hectares, Quamby Estate is not only home to the magnificent Quamby Homestead but has a superb 9-hole golf course and a restaurant offering a picture book venue for weddings and special events. Plus the original Georgian stables have been restored to house the walking base for our Cradle Mountain Huts and Bay of Fires Walks, making Quamby the perfect place to stay before and after the walks.

Today, Quamby’s picture-book landscape and newly-refurbished accommodation offers a luxurious place to stay for a few nights when touring around Tasmania. It is the perfect base for exploring Launceston and its surrounds; the historic townships of Deloraine and Westbury with their many art and craft shops are nearby; the vineyards of the Tamar Valley are less than an hour’s drive away; and the Cradle Valley is a natural next stop.
