Out and About
Ross is centrally located, three hours drive from Devonport , one hour from Launceston and one-and-a-half hours from Hobart. Coles Bay and Swansea on the East Coast is just over one hour away. If you like to snow-ski in winter, Ben Lomond Ski Resort is just a short distance away. It is a district rich in history, boasting the third oldest and possibly the most beautiful convict-built bridge in Australia.
The Ross Bridge is one of Australia's finest monuments. It took over 3 years to build and was finally opened by Governor Arthur in October 1836, it stands as an example of craftsmanship seldom equalled. The arches contain 186 stones depicting Celtic symbols interspersed with images of notable personalities and carvings of animals.

Explore the craft shops, view the remains of the once notorious Female Factory and admire the world famous convict built bridge with its unique convict carvings.
Two minutes walk to everything Ross has to offer. Soak up the village atmosphere while enjoying street dining in one of our cafes. Savour a glass of wine in our Historic Man O'Ross hotel.
Ross is also the home of one of the rarest female convict establishments in the world, where archaeologists have found remains - still untouched by man, since it's demise in the 19th century.
