Tynwald Willow Bend Estate,
New Norfolk
Hobart Road
New Norfolk
Stunning 1830s mansion commanding magnificent views of the serene Derwent River below. Tynwald Estate is set on 16 hectares, two of which are lovely garden walks where you may stroll at your leisure, breathe in the fresh country air and imagine the days gone by. Within the grounds is a mill dating from 1820, the first flour mill in the district. The rich history of this elegant house has been skilfully retained by furnishing all rooms with genuine antiques, giving it a very special ambience. Modern comforts are all supplied, however, including a spa in some rooms. The Granary is a self-catering quaint stone cottage, formerly the grain store for the old mill. Borrow the fishing rods and try your luck, just beyond the front door. If you are feeling vigorous, there is a solar-heated pool outside. The peaceful scenery outdoors can be admired while ambling along the river walks which lead to a wetlands park and sanctuary for many birds, and also to the esplanade of New Norfolk 2km away. Or ride a mountain bike supplied by your hosts. After a wonderful relaxing day, return to indulge in a sumptuous gourmet dinner prepared by the restaurant chefs, featuring fresh local produce and quality Tasmanian wines. You may decide to spoil yourself with the Gourmet Getaway and Garden package, which also includes afternoon tea on arrival, gourmet breakfast and entrance to a private garden.
