Established in 1921, the dry land Calliope Vineyard at Rutherglen produces
traditional full bodied wine styles.
A winery and distillery was built at Beverford where suitable grape varieties
were planted to compliment those already being grown at Calliope, Rutherglen.
At this time varieties such as Chardonnay, Sylvaner, Chenin Blanc, Columbar,
Rhine Riesling, Cabernet Sauvignon, Shiraz and Touriga are available to us
for winemaking.
The Calliope vineyard at Rutherglen has been retained primarily for the
production of prestigious fortified and red table wines. They are now
irrigated vineyards, which produce small yields of very high quality fruit.
The main varieties grown are brown Muscat, Frontignac, Tokay and Shiraz. With
these two very different yet complimentary districts in production the Buller
family is in a position to offer to the discerning public a comprehensive
range of quality table and dessert wines.
Also has a Bird Park containing native and exotic species. This is set,
together with barbecue facilities, in a garden setting for our visitor's
pleasure.
At this time varieties such as Chardonnay, Sylvaner, Chenin Blanc, Columbard,
Rhine Riesling, Cabernet Sauvignon, Shiraz and Touriga are available to us for
winemaking.
