As a building, 'The Willows' Museum dates back historically to 1878, when it was first built as a residence by the Wise brothers, in conjunction with the construction of a Flour Mill. The Mill itself was a water powered stone grind mill, which operated at 'The Willows' site prior to its relocation to the railway siding in 1885.
'The Willows' runs not only as a museum but also operates as a craft and souvenir centre and has tea rooms serving Devonshire teas and other light refreshments. It is set in a delightful tropical surrounding on the banks of the Billabong Creek.
Planted on the lawns of 'The Willows' is a native 'Jerilderie Red' tree, which is a cross between an Illawarra flame tree and a Kurrajong, and is unique to Jerilderie.
Nearby is the famous Kelly Gang Post Office, and Lake Jerilderie which was established in 1979. Also 'Steel Wings' a windmill stands as an attraction.
