Situated 38 kilometres south of Toowoomba, in the heart of the country side, is Rudds Pub, a historic, relaxing hotel in the small village of Nobby. The hotel has ties with Sister Elizabeth Kenny of Polio fame and Steele Rudd (Arthur Hoey Davis), author of the popular Dad 'n' Dave stories. Sister Kenny and her mother are buried in the Nobby Cemetery and a memorial building with a display of her history was established in 1998 for viewing.
Rudds Pub was established in 1893 and has all the charm of that era with memorabilia and photographs around the walls. An old railway cottage has been restored to create a cosy romantic accommodation for two with a veranda that overlooks the fertile soil and crops of the downs.
Country style meals are served daily with lunch from 12.00 p.m. to 2.00 p.m. and dinner from 6.00 p.m. to 8.00 p.m. and from 6.00 p.m. to 9.00 p.m. on Friday and Saturday, closed Sunday night. Bus tours, car, bike and social clubs are catered for by appointment with a barn that will seat a hundred plus for functions.
Photographs and memorabilia have been collected from auctions and clearing sales over the years to make the hotel what it is today and to create a comfortable and relaxing atmosphere.
