Out and About
Phillip Island is host to many attractions, including the Penguin Parade. Each night at sunset the penguins delight visitors as they waddle ashore after a days fishing, and you can see them in there natural habitat from viewing stands and boardwalks. As well as encouraging conversation in a bushland setting, The koala Conservation Centre provides optimal Koala viewing, including treetop boardwalks. Phillip Island also has a variety of superb walking and cycling tracks. These tracks have been designed to maximise the stunning coastal views and surround you with the island's flora and fauna. From the magnificent headland of the Nobbies, the views stretch forever, offering spectacular coastal viewing from the boardwalks and lookout points set amongst natural sea bed gardens. Seal Rocks, home to Australia's largest Australian Fur Seal colony, are set one and half kilometers offshore from the Nobbies.
Phillip Island is famous for its international Motorcycle and Car racing events. Motorbike enthusiasts from around the world converge on the island twice a year to see the big bikes in action on the famous Phillip Island Grand Prix Circuit-at the World Super Bike Championship in April and the Australian Motocycle Grand Prix in October. In November you can also enjoy the action of the V8 Supercars. If motor sports are not your thing, the island is also home to swiming and surfing competitions, including the Cowes Classic and the Phillip Island Swim Classic. Festivals such as the San Remo/Newhaven Art Show and Fishing Village Festival and the Churchill Island Working Horse and Pioneer Festival are also popular events.
