’Still Finding Gold In Clunes’ Keebles is one of the most prestigious Guest Houses in the state. Built in 1863 and located in Victoria’s first gold town, the main guesthouse has 6 fully ensuited rooms, three lounge areas (including a billiards room and library), separate dining and breakfast rooms and 3 acres of garden. One two bedroom cottage and a one bedroom cottage are also available. Outdoor barbecue, croquet and petanque facilities available. The main guesthouse is furnished with antiques and original art works and while it has all of the modern comforts, it still retains an old world charm. It is a romantic getaway and a perfect retreat for those wishing to have an indulgent break from their busy lives. Guests preferring to stay in our cottages may ’self-cater’ or partake of breakfast and evening meals in the elegant Dining Room of the main guesthouse. A four course meal is served on Saturdays and three course meals are available on other evenings. Keebles is fully licensed and stocks a good range of moderately priced and locally produced wines. Keebles is just over a 90 minues drive from Melbourne and is centrally located to such regional centres as Ballarat, Bendigo, Daylesford and Castlemaine. There are over 20 wineries within a 30 minutes drive of Clunes. Enjoy the historic township of Clunes which has more than 50 heritage listed buildings and is one of the most intact 19th century towns in the world. Take a stroll down Fraser Street where such films as ’Mad Max’ and Heath Ledger’s ’Ned Kelly’ were filmed. With the establishment of the Wesley College Residential Learning Village in 2000, Clunes has come alive once more and although the prospectors have long since departed, visitors are ’still finding gold in Clunes’.
