Vlamingh Head Lighthouse: The Vlamingh Head Lighthouse is located 17km north of the Exmouth townsite. The Lighthouse overlooks Lighthouse Bay and has the distinction of being one of the few places in Australia where you can watch the sun rise and set. The Lighthouse was built in 1912 and stands on the northernmost tip of the Cape Range.Cape Range National Park: The park entrance is located approx. 40km away from Exmouth on the western side of the peninsula. The park then extends for approx another 60km. The road into Cape Range is sealed up until Yardie creek. From this point there is a salt water tidal creek crossing and a 4WD track only down to Coral Bay.
Beaches: Pebble Beach is located 13.5km south of Exmouth on the Exmouth/Minilya rd. This glorious beach is covered in pebbles, some particularly attractive if tumbled. Its a great swimming and fishing beach.
Bundegi Beach is located 13km north of Exmouth. Bundegi is a popular and safe swimming, snorkelling and fishing beach. There is a boat ramp available at this location.
Jurabi Turtle Centre: This interactive centre displays information on turtles that inhabit the Ningaloo Reef. This centre is not enclosed and is open any time of the day. There are 3 species of turtle that inhabit the Ningaloo region. These are the Hawksbill, Green and Loggerhead turtles. They are regularly seen in the waters in Exmouth and Coral Bay. Their mating/nesting season is between Nov - Mar. Night tours to witness the miracle of nature generally run from Dec - Feb.
Whale Sharks: Whaleshark season is generally April - July. They arrive just after the coral spawning that occurs after the full moon in March and April. As this is a natural occurence there are not set dates. The Whalesharks congregate to the Ningaloo Reef to feed on microscopic creatures known as zooplankton.
Humpback Whales: can be seen in the area between July - November. The Humpback whale is the fifth largest of the great whales and can weigh up to 40 tonnes. You can watch them roll around slapping their tails and fins. Join one of the tours or view them from vantage points at Town Beach, Bundegi Beach and the Lighthouse lookout.
Mandu Mandu Gorge: Located 72km from Exmouth in the Cape Range National Park. Take a bushwalk through the gorge and bring the camera along for those spectacular rock formations and colours.
Wildflowers: The North West Cape nutures an unusually large variety of flora and more than 630 species have been recorded here to date. The Cape Range Trail extends from Minilya up the Minilya - Exmouth Rd to Yardie creek in the Cape Range National park. Throughout this trail Sturt Desert Peas, Mulla Mulla, Green Birdflowers, rock growing Ficus and other species may be seen. The general time wildflowers can be found in this area is July - October (depending on the rains).
