There are numerous opportunities for wildflower discovery, bushwalking, bird watching and star gazing.
We are within one hour’s easy drive of Albany, with its whales (in season) and beaches, Bremer Bay, Porongurup and Mt Barker wineries, and close to the Lily Dutch Windmill a fine dining restaurant.
Being opposite Bluff Knoll Road and Stirling Range National Park – which is world renowned for plant diversity – this is a mecca for artists, writers, photographers and hikers. A shuttle bus is available for hikers taking the two to three day Stirling Ridge Walk from Bluff Knoll to Ellen Peak.
Open all year, accommodation includes air-conditioned two bedroom chalets with bedding provided; cosy single room cabins and hostel rooms with hire bedding, and powered sites with sunset views.
Basket breakfasts, to cook at sunrise or as late as you like are available. Great meals are nearby.
Maps, mountain guide books, and wildflower books are available at reception.
Our bird list shows over 80 bird species have been recorded, by Birds Australia at the Retreat. Also grey kangaroos, ant eaters (a very lucky sighting) and brush tail possums inhabit our conserved bush which is set aside for wildlife. As with all wildlife living in a free environment, sightings are opportunistic, and can never be guaranteed.
